Watches that suit different generations/ages?

I've been thinking a lot lately about owning/wearing just one watch, thats always on the wrist, accompanies you on all adventures and doesn't mind being knocked around.
Probably my favourite watch right now, is my Omega 2221. It's of very high quality and comfortable to wear, but it got me thinking, "could this be, that one watch?". I'm in my early 30's right now and I feel the Omega, with its blue, sporty look, suits my age very well.... But would it at 45, 55, or 65? Perhaps a more mature watch (if that exists) should be taking its place?
My thought, is that the SMP is well geared for the 25 to 35 age range. Kind of that first nice watch ones gets after finishing school and/or landing a decent job. As another example, I think an aquaracer would fit that bill as well, as sort of a more youthful sports piece.

On the other end of the spectrum, I think a gold tone Rolex daydate, would suit a more "refined" gentleman better than someone in their 20's or 30's.

Then, there are the watches that I think are available for any one age to pull off, say for example, your Rolex explorers or Omega Speedy's.

There are obviously a ton of examples to be used, and these are just some of my thoughts, but what do you guys think? Do you agree with any of it? Are all watches ageless/timeless in your opinion? Interested to hear other views.

Cheers
