Datejust "Buckley" Dial Differentiation

Hi All,

I've recently fallen in love with the vintage datejusts with the "Buckley" dial and I am in the market for one. I've read up on what makes a watch a Buckley, and seen the criteria posted online from Mr. Buckley himself. Still I find myself with a question...

True Buckley's are between mid 70s - 80s (~4M - 8M ref.no.), and have the subtle roman numerals. Here below is an example of a 1981 16014 Buckley.

This next link is a 1967 1601 that looks identical through my untrained eyes.

The year is out of the Buckley range, but other then that, are there any differentiating factors I am missing? All I can tell that are different between them is the Buckley is 16014, meaning it has a white gold bezel. The "non-buckley" is a 1601, with a SS bezel. Hands on the bezel are silver vs. black. Are those the differentiating characteristics? For what I can see, the 1967 looks like a Buckley dial to me. Something I'm missing?

I care more about the aesthetics of the watch, rather than if it is a true Buckley or not. Also might keep some money in my pocket when it comes to purchasing one.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Mark
