I have owned this watch since Jan25,2015. This evening I decided to give the watch a thorough cleaning with a Sunshine cloth and a wash with Veraet watch cleaner. Also decided to take a bunch of photos - mainly wrist shots - to show the watch at various angles on my 7.5in wrist. This might give potential buyers at least some idea what to expect. To me, this is my ideal watch size even for my fairly large wrist.
This is not only my favourite Grand Seiko (I also have an automatic SBGR051 and a Hi-Beat SBGH005), but my favourite watch. The craftsmanship on all counts is superb, matching any watch at any price that I have seen. That goes also for any Grand Seiko that I have seen. I love the high end quartz accuracy, and that I will probably not need to service the watch at all - ever (I'm almost 67 years old), "...this watch has the longest service interval in the world. Grand Seiko suggests that the lubrication in this watch, thanks to the sealed cabin, will be good up to 50 years." More about this in the excellent review of the 9F movement by Timeless Luxury Watches: http://www.timelessluxwatches.com/re...ko-9f-movement. I am extremely proud to own such a timepiece with this excellent movement.
Originally, I had hoped to get the SBGX061 with the black dial. The intention was to have it as a replacement for my 36mm Rolex Explorer I which, until I saw the Grand Seiko, I regretted selling a few years ago. Luckily, we have one of only two GS ADs in Canada, here in Vancouver, so off I went to take a look. The only quartz model they had was the one I now own. Initially, I was a bit disappointed, but after trying this on with the gorgeous white dial, I simply had to have it.
My plan now is to sell my other two Grand Seikos and get an SBGX063, with the champagne dial, and possibly the SBGX061 with black dial. I have decided that, after years of buying, selling and flipping watches that this is the optimum style and size for me. I won't rave any more about the wonderful craftsmanship and the unequalled beauty of the hands and markers, and the finishing and polishing on the case and bracelet, as there are so many wonderful examples in the various posts and threads in this forum.
Here are the photos I took this evening. Not the best, nor the best I have taken, but they should give a good and hopefully accurate visual of the fit and finish:
