About 6 months ago, i had posted a SOTC saying i was nearly done.

This is what I had then:

A quick recap of what I thought then vs what has happened:
- Accumulation phase done - actually, that's quite true. My collection has reduced in size since then, going from 10 to 8ish (9 with one for sale). However, there has been quite a lot of consolidation, as i've shuffled watches to fit my evolving preferences (mainly, a shift towards smaller watches).
- I listed the Panerai 24 as a 'backbone' watch. Well, sorta. I still plan to have a PAM in my collection but the 44mm was too big for me, so i traded it in for a 241, a 40mm version. However, my Goldilock genes are kicking in because this is a bit too small (for a Panerai), and I may trade it in for a 42mm instead.
- Pretty much every non-backbone watch, ie, the lower end of my collection, is either gone (IWC Aquatimer, JR Aquascope, Meistersinger Pangaea) or in the process of going (Glycine - is on sale here, buy it, someone!). The IWC I miss - it was fantastic in every respect except just a bit too big on my wrist. The LLD was hard to sell - but in the end, I wanted one watch which would work well on a NATO, and the LLD was a little too dressy for that: finding the Damasko DB2 allowed me to let go of the LLD. The JR Aquascope & the Pangaea were nice watches but didnt really appeal to me as much - same holds true for the Glycine.
- The Sinn finally arrived a good 2 months after that post, the Oris was a love/hate/love/buy decision that lasted about 2 months before i pulled the trigger - and the Damasko was a recent buy.
So now i have this:

I think of my watches in terms of use case:
- Dress-up watches: the Breguet, the GO Pano and the Zenith EP
- Dress-down watches - the Sinn, the Oris (I have a bracelet for that en route as well) and the Damasko.
- "Smart Casual", which is how i dress most of the time i am outside: nice dark jeans, an untucked bespoke shirt or nice polos and a pair of high-end sneakers (Buttero, CPs). The Rolex and PAM fit into this category
A photo of the watchbox (I really do need to get a better watchbox one of these days):

Once I sell the Glycine, that leaves me with 2 slots. For my next watch, I am looking for something that would fit the 'smart casual' category. #10 is still to be decided - probably a Patek/AP/Reverso.
As of now, these are my options for Numero Neuve - all of these are watches i would be very happy to have on my wrist:

- Cartier Santos - the medium version of this looks like a million bucks on my wrist. However, the larger version would add a bit of wrist presence that is missing now that i have downscaled all my watches. Either could be an option - gonna try both out next month and decide.
- Rolex Pepsi GMT - i am very interested in this (actually the most out of all the 4 candidates here), but I have a one-watch-per-brand rule. If I get this, i would likely sell the Polar Exp2, and that is something i dont want to do yet (and in any case, that will replace one of the current 8, not be #9). So i am leaning towards holding off on this, atleast for now.
- Blancpain FF Bathyscape - I have always had the hots for this watch and it would be perfect, given my beach bum lifestyle. It is just a little bigger than what i prefer, and my other concern is that it may be a little too casual as well.
- VC Overseas - I like the older version in the grey dial and on a rubber strap, this would be a perfect end-game 'smart casual' watch. But its going to be a bit of a quest to find one, as it is discontinued and the newer versions dont do it for me.
A couple of other wildcards: a Vulcain Nautical in red (but i dont like cushion cases so much) and the IWC Pilot Mark XVIII Top Gun.
Whatcha think?
