I decided to take my trusted Speedy for a 3-week stay in France to visit my family. I used it to time a trip on the second day and noticed after a few minutes that the chronograph hand was stopped as well as the second hand. I stopped and reset the chronograph and the watch started again, not good...
I re-run the chronograph and the chrono hand stopped again with the watch still running this time, it was pretty much fully wound.
The weird thing is that all the hands used to be perfectly aligned when the chronograph was reset, now, the chrono hand and the minute counter hand are slightly to the right of the markers, so something definitely happened.
It is possible that my watch was dropped even though there is no sign of it on the case or crystal (I have kids so it can happen...), it looks like there is now an issue with the part of the movement related to the chronograph.
My watch was serviced by Omega in 2013, so it should not be due for a service yet. I never pictured the Speedy as a delicate watch but i am now questioning is toughness...
I have let the watch wind down and will keep it in a box until i go back to the US and have it checked at the OB.
It's too bad, I really was looking forward to wearing it during my stay... I am now Omega- less for 3 weeks. I'll be wearing my Archer Aero II, good thing I took it aa a backup!
Thank you for letting me vent.
All the best,
Phil.
