I was recently granted an opportunity to get a Tissot PRC 100 titanium locally (new but non-AD) for $260, I'm tempted to purchase it but need some guidance.
Firstly, it seems to be a great deal when I compare it to the prices it appears to be selling at online, but it makes me wonder if this is actually a good deal or am I seeing heavily inflated prices that nobody pays (a la Invicta...), there aren't any private F29 sales to get a bearing on street value price. Is this a good value? I can't make up my mind, coming from Seiko these swatch group brands feel like a trap based on branding. It is titanium and does have a sapphire crystal, but from some of the horror stories I read here it sounds like modern Tissot is all about looks, with crazy service charges and build quality that features dial markers coming off and bracelets falling apart...
Which brings me to my other concern: it's quartz (G10.211), but not only that it appears to be a cheap non-servicable quartz chrono movement. I've read mixed reviews on this movement regarding durability, and I'm not sure if this is worth buying. It seems to be nothing special, a throwaway plastic movement with the standard 3 year battery life. Then again, it should not be difficult to source a replacement if something goes wrong in the future.
It looks good, feels good, and I don't have a chrono, Ti watch, nor a Tissot in my box so naturally it feels right to try something that's not a lume-torch Seiko diver. Help push me over the edge, fellow enablers!!!! :P
