Without having it in my hand yet to give a full review, I got to thinking last night why is it that I wear my Rangeman more than my Frog? And why is it when I wear my frog, I really want my Rangeman?
Spending a lot of time in the elements and around the water two things are really important for me - Tides and Barometer. I watch these two often daily, it is part of my thing...
They missed the mark on the new GWF-D1000 series IMHO. Yes the tide is there and the moon, however when I would have loved to have seen an actual ABC sensor with Depth as well as tide, moon, and sunrise/set would have been icing on the cake.
Now yes - I have a smart phone, and yes I watch the weather before I plan anything. Smartphone does not always have reception - therefore a BARO great helps when storms blow in.
Had they just put the Barometer in there - it would have made it one single watch that I would wear most of the time. Sure I would still continue to rotate and most likely buy others that peak my interest, however adding that one small item (which looking at the upcoming GulfMaster makes me more mad) I would have gotten a lot of use out of.
