I just received a very interesting Raketa

The Soviets made a lot of watches to commemorative a lot of events, a popular one being the Victory over Fascism 19x5 years. Many members here are familiar with the 85, 95 Komandirskies and whatnot, but how many heard of a 1945-1975? And a Raketa as well! This watch featured a dial that I did not recognize before at the time of search. But after some snooping on the Russian forum, it seems that this dial was legit, and printed on a Raketa TV case watch so it's confirmed that this isn't some franken or fantasy dial. But what really caught my eye is that there seems to be not many of these things in good condition, nor is there an abundance of information on this dial design. So I can get a very rare authentic watch that's serviced and from a reputable seller at a decent price of $47USD with shipping. Why not?

Let's get some stats out of the way first: 2609NA movement serviced, running 10 seconds fast per day, amplitude at 258 degrees, beat error of 0.3ms, lift angle of 52 degrees, and as per usual, 18000 bph. Just a plain reliable Raketa.

The watch measures 33 by 41 mm, which is minuscule by modern men's watch standards. But I like it. When wearing it the simplistic hands and minimalist markings add a lot to the overall classiness and formality. And, admittedly it might resemble the shape and aesthetics of a lower-cost Swiss Enicar or something like that from the same era, but the "1945-1975" along with "SDELANO V SSSR" just takes it to a whole new ballpark. It just looks so....socialist, so Soviet, so planned. The more I look at the watch, the more interestingly weird it gets; a very Communist design in a diverse, modern western city. Also, the watch gives off a mysteriously calm vibe, making one wonder if life was really as stone-faced and organized as this watch back then, 40 years ago in the Soviet Union. Not many watches can make one think about life and the amount of time that past, especially it's time that passed in an alternate world, in an alternate system and culture, that was both dreaded and admired. For these reasons, (and for the fact that it gave my English teacher chills when I said it was Made in the USSR) this Raketa will have a special place in my everyday life.

Ok that's enough rambling for a day

Finally, shout out to ebay seller named samun_povt from St. Petersburg (I think he's on this forum as well so thanks man for the watch!). Very reliable, communicative seller. He has some interesting stuff including what I believe is the only original Raketa UFO case Olympics watch on ebay with the 2609B movement.
