First Watch Project - Runs But Needs Help Starting

Hi all, I've been into watches my entire life, but never took one apart until last night. My wife has been giving me a bit of grief about buying (expensive) watches, so I figured since I love working on mechanical things, why not buy up some inexpensive ones and have fun working on them? To that end, I found a Lucerne diver on eBay for $15 shipped, and figured what the hell.

The watch was a non-runner when I got it. Ordered up some inexpensive tools and went to work. It's got a Baumgartner 866 which is a pin lever movement, which I guess is a pretty cheap movement and I've read that these were almost disposable, but can respond to service.

I took it apart and cleaned everything with Naptha last night after I got the kids in bed, and put it back together tonight again after the kids were in bed. No real issues in getting it all back together that I can tell. I oiled what looked like it needed oil and greased what looked like needed grease, following some watchmaking blogs as guides. When I wound it the first time, it didn't do anything. So I gave the balance wheel a little shove, and it started ticking away and is running OK now for 30 minutes.

My initial question, since it's not been running long enough to know anything else, is, what would cause the movement to need that initial push to get going. Clearly something is wrong to require that.

Second, the crown is pulled out to the time setting position, but it won't go back in. I'll take a look at that tomorrow night.

Here's some photos of the process; comments welcome.

Cased; didn't realize it was missing the bezel when I bought it. Needs a crystal, this one is cracked.
